In modern music videos usually there are a lot of special digital effects. Ok Go went the opposite way and relied only on everyday objects to create a machine (Rube Goldberg Machine) that would create sounds and rhythms for their music video “This Too Shall Pass” from their album “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky”. The result is an incredible domino effect lasting 3:54 seconds.
The video is all done in one shot and it took 85 takes to get it on film but only 3 takes actually were of a complete run. Two pianos and 10 televisions were destroyed in the process It took months to prepare for this video and no wonder 33,059,578 viewers already watched it. You should too. It is amazing. Director: James Frost, OK Go and Syyn Labs. Producer: Shirley Moyers. The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Syyn Labs ( http://syynlabs.com) There is an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the warehouse here: http://www.okgo.net/this-too-shall-pass-rube-goldberg-machine Enjoy!!!
